Ethereum is a decentralized cryptocurrency created in 2015. Ethereum is a proof-of-work based public blockchain  which features smart contracts. Unlike Bitcoin, Ethereum can be GPU mined until the inevitable proof-of-stake change to the Ethereum network.

Ethereum is the second largest cryptocurrency by market capitalisation. With over 98 million coins in circulation and no hard cap limit. This means that at present an unlimited number of coins can be mined until a hard cap is introduced.
